Something a little different, Midlife & the questions you want to ask
Hello my gorgeous VIP
…or should I say Summer Sizzler - because, lovely person have you been sizzling? One minute we’re wearing tights in May, the next minute we’re pulling out the sundress circa 2006 (or is it just me who, first sign of sunshine reverts to the oldies?).
In our house, the theme of change continues - end of school, beginning of next school, goodbyes, new classes, changing rooms, school trips and plays - and that’s before we embark on who will be next (elections), will they score again (England) and are they ever wearing enough sunblock at Glastonbury?
I cannot deny the blue skies and beautiful blooms around Bristol have been a tonic to these choppier times - providing a magical warmth, comfort and feeling of love in the air.
But speaking of change…
This week I thought we’d try something different in our Next Chapter Living. Rather than me talk about me and my Next Chapter lessons, Cookie and I thought it was high-time we heard from you - which is why we’re re-releasing an episode of The Next Chapter from 2021 - no, I’ve not forgotten to record an episode… Keep reading my lovely VIP and I’ll explain.
S12 Ep 5 (Re-Release): Claire Davis: The Midlife Mentor helping to transform lives
Claire Davis is one half of the Midlife Mentors – the other is her husband James. They are multi-award winning coaches who’ve helped thousands of people have a complete reset at midlife. Whether it’s weight, fitness, career, relationships, self-esteem or all of these and more, Claire and James want to help us all thrive.
They’ve worked with celebrities like Melanie Sykes and Ashley Roberts. They run one of Europe’s most successful luxury fitness retreat companies, and they have their own hugely popular podcast, The Midlife Mentors . On top of all this, their work has also been highlighted in all different national newspapers and magazines.
Now, on to you….
The reason I’m replaying the episode is – for the first time we’re going to do a Next Chapter Deep Dive with Claire. I’m beyond excited/thrilled she’s coming back on the podcast. Claire was one of the very first supporters of the Next Chapter and I can’t wait to speak to her again. So, I thought I’d share the episode which is her own Next Chapter story and you can meet/remember her and see how refreshingly honest she is.
But now we want to talk about - well, you. What are the questions you have for Claire and how can she help? Are you:
Still pondering a Next Chapter but have no idea where to begin?
Would you like to lose some stubborn pounds for the summer months, but can’t stop reaching for the biscuit tin?
Do you a constant stream of negative thinking which you know is holding you back?
Are you struggling to organise your time or find the time to do what you really want?
Are you feeling burnt out and exhausted, like you’re trying everything but not getting far?
Are you totally confused by what you should or should not eat, drink, do or simply just be with all the conflicting advice ?
Or is there anything you’d love to speak to a coach about with years and years of experience, to see what advice they have for you?
The point is, we’d love, love to hear from you. I’m recording the Deep Dive next Tuesday 2nd July, so please message with your questions. I don’t have to say your name on the podcast and you can just reply to this email or message me on Instagram- the link is at the bottom of this note. It’s only Cookie and me here, and Cookie isn’t a fan of reading emails.
Whatever it is you’d like to know - I’m 100 % certain someone would else would love to know the answer to your question too. So, don’t worry whatever it is, you’ll be helping us all.
And finally…
Next Chapter Wisdom of the Week 1
We are all ordinary, yet we all diminish ordinary. But then something hard happens, and all we want is ordinary.

Next Chapter Wisdom of the Week 2
Letting go doesn't mean giving up, but rather accepting that there are things that cannot be.

So, my gorgeous Summer Sizzling VIP
I hope the sun continues to shine over the weekend and your days are filled with blooms (and you’re wearing enough sunblock). There may be Euros, Elections, Glastonbury and who knows what else - but I hope you know there’s a little place at Flowerpot HQ where the appreciation for you is forever the same.
We’ll see you next week
Love E & C

P.S Thank you very much to all you lovely people who’ve sent messages about my books recently. They make my day/year. If you could leave a review on Amazon that would help so much.
P.P.S My latest novel Do We Really Have to Do This? is all about finding out why we can’t move on with our lives.
“I just loved this book from the first sentence to the last. You should always like/love at least one character, and I loved them all, including Fred! I laughed, I cried.” Amazon Review
Thank you so much to our partners Empire Fighting Chance. Their tireless work to keep young people safe is now helping communities not just in Bristol but all over the world.
